We've been asked to create a vision for secondary education to guide us
for the future - and we need your ideas to help shape the vision.
The Secondary Futures project is government funded, though not government driven. We started work in 2004.
Four Guardians lead the project, set the work direction and protect its integrity.
We work with the education sector and a wide range of people from
different communities including: young people, parents, business, local government and other government agencies.
We use our own specially designed tools to give New Zealanders the
opportunity to start thinking about the future. If we start thinking
about the future now, we can also think about our preferred option for
schooling and work out what we need to do to achieve it.
Through research, discussion and sharing information and ideas,
Secondary Futures plans to make sure New Zealanders get a chance to
influence education policy, from a futures perspective.
Find out more about how we work.
In October 2005, Secondary Futures prepared a briefing for the incoming Minister of Education.
This briefing provides an overview of Secondary Futures, what we have achieved and what we are planning to do next.
